Innova Camera, strongly believe that a new economic Reinaissance may spring out of the maker movement and the maker culture behind it. Maker Faire originated in 2006 in the San Francisco Bay Area as a project of the editors of Make: magazine. Maker Faire Rome is the European edition of Maker Faire. Maker Faire Rome is NOT FOR PROFIT EVENT that combines science, science fiction, technology, entertainment and business to create something totally new. It’s an event created to cater to curious participants of all ages, wishing to experience first-hand the makers’ inventions. Inventions that are the result of a desire to solve everyday problems, whether big or small. Maker Faire Rome is designed to turn the spotlight on hundreds of projects from around the world that are able to catapult visitors into the future. Not just a fair for field experts. At Maker Faire, you’ll find innovation in the field of science and technology (from 3D printers to wearables, through to drones, robots and digital manufacturing), but also new forms of art, entertainment, crafts, food experiments and attractions never seen before. The watchwords of the Maker Faire Rome are: meeting, exchange, training, entertainment and interaction. The public can experience and try their hand with these new inventions where innovation is made available to everyone. An experience where participants are an integral part of the fair itself. With over 600 innovations on display in 2016 and over 110 thousand visitors, Maker Faire Rome is the world’s largest exhibition after the “Area Bay” and “New York” in the USA. Maker Faire Rome – The European Edition is something different from the usual format of the USA Maker Faires. More than just a fair, Maker Faire Rome is the event where you can experience the digital revolution that is changing the way we produce and the way we live. It is the spot for companies and innovators who use the new digital culture as a tool to challenge the market. It is the fair where you can experiment the future that awaits us but in an easy, accessible way. It is the fair where business, education and consumer mingle and create a magical alchemy. It’s the fair where everybody can learn, have fun and do business. Over the years, Maker Faire Rome has developed a strong link with the business communities, as evidenced by the increasing participation of internationally renowned sponsors and the presence of hundreds of small and medium-sized businesses alongside companies of global size.  In 2017, after the success of the prior editions, we expect hundreds of inventions and attractions from 65 nations. On the programme: live performances, panels, workshops, seminars, conferences and many surprises in store especially for children who will have a special Kids Area.

Maker Faire Rome: Italian Visitors’ Profile (SWG Search – December 2016)

Maker’s Faire Rome visitor profile is that of a well-educated young man, student, worker, entrepreneur, or potential entrepreneur. In fact, young people between the ages of 20 and 34 are significantly overwhelmed by high or medium schooling. Sub-represented – pensioners and housewives. The most significant work cluster on average is that of free professionals and entrepreneurs, most of them students (+ 5% compared to the previous edition).
Whoever was at the last Maker Faire Rome is also more present on social networks than national data, as in the case of the most popular services like Facebook (+ 7% compared to the previous edition). Visitors feel more creative than the overall population (+ 21%) and, as it is well-known, they express primary interest in innovation (84%) for both professional and playful reasons. The figure appears to be very high since it is a manifestation that today is known by about 16 million people (only in Italy) between the ages of 18 and 64 (it speaks of a population of active population of just over 37 Millions of people) of which 38% entrepreneurs. The perception of the importance of the event and its impact on the economic system is also high. For 8 out of 10 respondents, and above all for entrepreneurs, Maker Faire Rome is very or very important; 75% of respondents believe that it can contribute to the development of the culture of innovation. The percentage increase in awareness among entrepreneurs is + 27% compared to the 2015 survey. One company out of five is interested in participating in MFR 2017. The level of push for innovation generated by Maker Faire Rome, both from the general public and from the public made up of entrepreneurs or potential ones, was estimated by SWG as + 78% .

Focus Entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs

 With reference to the three-year period 2013-2016, entrepreneurs are aware of the glove launched by the new industrial revolution, especially in the digital sphere, but also in the technical sphere: only 1 out of 10 denies the potential involvement of their business in the process. They also see the possibility, thanks to the new paradigm, to improve many aspects of work: firstly, products and services (28%) and productivity (27%). To tackle the challenge, they see central, among other things, changing strategies with increased investment in innovation. Entrepreneurs who claim to innovate more in all fields are just those who know Maker Faire Rome.
