Founder of Green Bronx Machine

Stephen Ritz is an internationally acclaimed, award winning educator, author of number one best selling book, The Power Of A Plant, and Founder of Green Bronx Machine. Known as America’s favorite teacher, Stephen is responsible for creating the first edible classroom in the world and he and his students have grown more than 60,000 pounds of vegetables in the South Bronx and were recently featured on the cover of TIME for KIDS Magazine. From Columbia to Cairo, from Canada to Dubai, from Mexico to Italy, Stephen has electrified audiences and schools with his passion, purpose and hope and has been featured in every major media outlet in the USA to millions of eyeballs. Stephen was a Top Ten Finalist in the Global Teacher Prize, winner of the International Food and Sustainability Award, has presented and built a garden at the White House several times and was invited to and presented at South by South Lawn. He has received standing ovations at the United Nations, Clinton Global Initiative, What Works Dubai, TED, WOBI, Harvard University, Net Impact and around the globe. A replica of his classroom was installed at the US Botanic Garden. Stephen and Green Bronx Machine won Best in Class and Best in Show Awards at Maker Faire International in NYC in 2016. He is the Executive Director of the National Health, Wellness and Learning Center at CS 55 and is proud to be joining the faculty of Esol Education and collaborating on Fairgreen School in Dubai while living and working at The Sustainable City.
